The weekend brought with it the return of MTV’s newly-revived House of Style. The TV show, which had many of us glued to our screens in the late ’80s/early ’90s, has now partnered with Teen Vogue to bring us all latest from the world of fashion.
Starring Bar Rafaeli and Chanel Iman as co-hosts, the show’s weekend debut prompted mixed reactions from viewers, who felt it was too scripted and perhaps a little too geared towards the teen-set (erm… friendship bracelets, really?!). Here is a snippet from episode one, featuring Rafaeli interviewing Justin Timberlake on the eve of his New York Fashion Week show for William Rast. Click play on video above to watch.
I guess I can’t judge Bee Shaffer for giggling with her mother (Anna Wintour) in between looking utterly disinterested in the fashions at the William Rast show, considering I spent half my time twittering about who was in the front row and taking these pictures. Nicky and Paris Hilton seem to be making the rounds, and this was my first official sighting of both Wintour and French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld. Plus, there was the added bonus of seeing Justin Timberlake come out and take a bow at the end. (Check out a video of the show here!)
In “my boyfriend owns the label” news, Jessica Biel is apparently going to design handbags for a limited edition line for William Rast.
They’ll probably sell just from being associated with Justin Timberlake. But it’s an odd move considering Biel isn’t exactly at the height of her hot girl fame, and has never been very fashionable.
Apparently she has already started sketching designs for a limited edition collection. Star magazine says an insider claims “Jessica is casual when it comes to clothes, but she loves bags.”
The answer is ‘probably’. Though nobody will be winning any design awards for safe the luxe-Western collection, it does what it says on the tin, tying in nicely with the theme we’ve seen in the Justin / Erin Wasson teaser campaign. I actually thought the menswear was much stronger than the womenswear, but there were some great leather jackets, metallic scarves and slouchy bleached denims on offer for the fairer sex…
The actress appears in the ads alongside models, Fabienne Vanderhaeghen, Regina Feoktistova and Giedre Dukaskaitein. Photographed against a New York backdrop, the début line will launch in time for back-to-school.
