Yesterday the legendary Diane Von Furstenberg showed her latest Spring/Summer collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. One of the most well-loved US-based designers, DVF has a very special place in our hearts and we love seeing what she’ll come up with next.

Naturally there was a playfulness to the collection, something we’ve seen in as a trademark in Von Fursternberg designs, with graphic pop-art style prints and bold florals. We picked up on a little bit of a kitsch 60s vibe to her Spring/Summer designs, with blotchy Warhol-esque floral patterns worn on slouchy shift dresses and oriental kimono-inspired sun dresses.

The iconic designer also interpreted the renewed androgyny trend absolutely perfectly, teaming crisp men’s trousers with sharp-shouldered suit jackets and pastel-coloured blouses for a look that obviously took inspiration from menswear but at the same time remained feminine.

The whole thing was styled perfectly too, with the models wearing their pastel-coloured graphic designs with classic retro winged glasses and big old beehives. Diane Von Furstenberg knows how to turn a fashion show into a party.

Kate Middleton is named as one of the world’s best dressed women

By emilyborrett on August 4th, 2011

It seems that it’s not just us that’s got terrible K-Middy fever, as she’s just been voted as one of the world’s best dressed women in the world in Vanity Fair.

Kate was hailed as the third most well-dressed women in the world, having been pipped to the post by Carla Bruni in first place and Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser of Qatar in second. Still Kate, third place ain’t bad. Also on the list were Carey Mulligan, Tilda Swinton and Princess Charlene of Monaco.

Vanity Fair applauded the young Duchess for her recent habit of “recycling” clothes (i.e. wearing them more than once, ever). Apparently she’s worn her green Diane Von Fustenberg in public at least three times now! Three! Having scorned at the rich and beautiful’s idea of recycling, I have to admit that if I was the Duchess of Cambridge I’d probably never wear the same thing twice – so many fashion possibilities.

Congratulations, oh shiny-haired one – you’re officially the third best-dressed woman in the world.

Wrap dress lends an elegant look to any party

By Andrea Thatcher on October 19th, 2007

For the upcoming holidays or a night on the town, you don’t have to spend a lot to look like a million bucks. This Isaac Mizrahi for Target Taffeta Extravaganza Dress in Ebony, for example is very stylish, but definitely won’t break the bank. Outlined in a ruffle and in a sleeveless wraparound style, it ties in a bow on the side for a sexy flirty shape. The V- neck flatters your assets as well. Pair this with some excellent ’40s-style heels, and you’ve completed the look perfectly. Comfy and slimming for a cool $49.99, you can’t beat this price!

Diane von Furstenberg expands beyond the wrap-dress for spring

By Andrea Thatcher on September 13th, 2007

Diane von Furstenberg’s spring 2008 line shocked everyone last weekend in the Bryant Park tents when the wrap dress that made her famous in the 1970s barely made an appearance. Perhaps Furstenberg is learning from her history. She first made it big in the 1970s with her wrap dresses in wild prints, but the designer got too big too fast and couldn’t survive the end of the Studio 54 glitz. She virtually disappeared until 1997, after over a decade’s absence from the fashion world, when she re-launched her line to wild success, becoming the Council of Fashion Designers of America president in 2006.

Summer to fall with Norma Kamali

By Andrea Thatcher on August 31st, 2007

I adore everything designed by Norma Kamali, but this time she’s truly exceeded all my expectations. This Capped Sleeve Wrap Dress is the perfect summer to fall transition piece. On a day like today, about 80 degrees, I’d pair it with a pair of black gladiator sandals and big sunglasses. On the first cold day of fall, this dress will look like perfection with leggings and a long sweater over it.
