Yay or Nay Wednesday: Fancy cell phone cases

Comments (1)

Yay or Nay cell phone cases.jpg

This Iphone case from Juicy Couture definitely reminds us of the cell phone "purse" Cher carried during gym class in Clueless.

The Juicy Couture Iphone case, $75, is far less than the Iphone itself. But still, is it worth it?

Do you buy fashionable accessories for your phone or PDA? Yay or Nay?

Yay or Nay: funky hats

Comments (2)

Yay or Nay hats.jpg

Refinery 29 has admitted to being rather hat happy and has shown of their topper prowess with a roundup of stylish hats.

This got us thinking. While we often admire hats on others, mostly models and celebrities, we never wear anything other than the standard winter variety ourselves.

What do you think? Yay or nay on the funky hat?

Cindy Crawford Amy Winehouse.jpg

As you can see Cindy Crawford dressed up as Amy Winehouse for Kate Hudson's annual Halloween bash.

She dressed up as the troubled rocker in beehive, mock tattoos, and strappy animal print dress. Other celebs to get into the spirit included Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Isla Fisher, and Sacha Baron Cohen.

But the real question is, will you dress up for Halloween? Yay or Nay?

Yay or Nay Wednesday: John Fluevogs

Fluevog yay or nay.jpg

Our shoe-obsessed sister site Shoewawa has made its feelings known about John Fluevogs, but we'd like to get your take.

If you like a bit of the out of the ordinary, then you should definitely check out their site. The About Fluevog page is a very entertaining read.

They basically feature a lot of gothic and vintage-inspired shoes, like the Sugar boots pictures, $379.

So what do you think, yay or nay?

Rodarte tights.jpg

They're everywhere, people are soliciting knock-offs on Etsy, and we obviously love them. But what do you think? The Rodarte knit tights - would you wear them?

Tell us Yay or Nay in the comments below.

P.S. If you Yay them, Catwalk Queen has a roundup of lace tights today.)

Yay or Nat Paker Posey.jpg

We are big fans of Parker Posey's comedy stylings, but we don't think she intended for us to laugh at this style. But how can you not?

The awkward bouson top that would look much better with a strapless neckline and the weird hem line are enough ... but the weird furry purse puts this look over the top.

Are we wrong? Do you think Posey pulls it off? Let us know - yay or nay - in the comments.

Leighton Meester copy.jpg

We know a lot of you are in the Blair can do no fashion wrong camp, and believe us, our tent is firmly staked. But...

Are we out of line to say that this mixed print outfit on Leighton Meester from the Gossip Girl set is a little iffy? We're not sure if the matchy-matchy colors make it better or worse.

Yay or Nay Wednesday: cut out swimsuits

Comments (1)

cutout swimsuits.jpg

Swimsuits with extreme cutouts of nearly every configuration are a big trend this summer.

But it seems to us like if you want to show off a lot of skin, bikinis are often more flattering and functional.

This spotty one piece from Topshop (can't wait till you get to NYC Topshop, kiss kiss!) is a good example of what we're talking about. It's basically a bikini with a long strip attaching the two pieces.

If you're used to one pieces, do cutout suits make you more comfortable than a bikini? Or if you're a bikini bunny, would you try one of these instead? Tell us in the comments below.

Donna Karan shoe.jpg

This Donna Karan velvet and silk macramé evening sandal certainly is a work of art. But is it a work of art you want to wear on your foot?

From the fall 2008 ready to wear accessories collection, this statement shoe would surely overpower anything else you were wearing - which can be good or bad.

The yellowy-green-gray color palette throws an extra twist into an already twisty and turny design. What do you think, yay or nay?

Marisa Tomei copy.jpg

Marisa Tomei has always had a somewhat questionable style sense. Combine that with the fact that she was attending the 62nd Annual Tony Awards, an event a bit more formal and dare we say less fashionable than most red carpet award shows, and it's a recipe for ... a dress like this.

The belt, the flower appliques, the chiffonish train ... is it all too much? Yay or Nay? Tell us in the comments below.

lilly allen copy.jpg

While we're all for Lily Allen's Editor's Special Award at the Glamour Woman of the Year Awards, but we're not so sure about her Giles Deacon spring '08 deer print dress ... or the shoes ... or the hair.

What do you think? Does she pull of the punk bridal look, yay or nay?

Chloe bag.jpg

We're big fans of the Chloe Saskia shoulder bags, but we're not sure sure about this patchwork version.

Sure, it seems Kate Bosworth is a fan, but what about you?

Yay or nay for the Chloe Saskia patchwork pouchette, $1,560?

Acne pump.jpg

These distressed suede lace-up bootie pumps have a lot going on. The Acne Jeans Iman Platform Oxford Pump, $519, teeter on a 4.25" suede-covered heel with 0.88" platform.

The ultimate in unique luxe? Or, like acne itself, something you could really live without? Leave your yay or nay vote in the comments below.

Yay or Nay Wednesday: Givenchy jellies?

Comments (2)

Givenchy jellies copy.jpg

Do our eyes deceive? Givenchy is making jelly shoes?

It's true. The Givenchy jelly gladiator, $165, comes in pink and black with adjustable ankle straps.

What do you think? Nostalgic throwback great for the beach, or sweaty sandal that should stay in the sandbox? Yay or Nay?

Parker Posey copy.jpg

We don't usually feature people for Yay or Nay here at ShinyStyle, it seems mean. But our love for Parker Posey is such that we hope it evens out any ill-will toward this outfit. You know, in terms of fashion karma.
